The Generac RA03022 is a high-performance 30kW diesel-powered standby generator in the Protector® Series, engineered to provide critical backup power for commercial facilities, large homes, and mission-critical environments. With a focus on code compliance, fuel efficiency, and quiet operation, this model combines reliable power delivery with modern digital intelligence and field-proven diesel technology.
At its core is a 2.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged and aftercooled Perkins engine, operating at a low 1800 RPM for greater fuel efficiency and engine longevity. This liquid-cooled engine is purpose-built for generator duty, delivering consistent power with minimal wear over time. Available in both single-phase (120/240V) and three-phase configurations (including 208V, 240V, and 480V), the RA03022 supports a broad range of applications.
The Power Zone® 410 controller comes standard, providing an intuitive and feature-rich platform for generator management. This multilingual display delivers detailed readouts on voltage, current, frequency, power factor, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and more. It also supports remote communication, NFPA 110 capability, and full diagnostic and alert logging for proactive maintenance.
Power quality is top-tier, with ±1% digital voltage regulation and <5% total harmonic distortion (THD), allowing for safe operation of sensitive electronics and microprocessor-based equipment. The unit also offers strong motor starting capabilities, delivering up to 74 skVA at 0.3 power factor in 120/240V single-phase mode.
The generator is enclosed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum sound-attenuated housing, painted in Generac's signature Bisque finish. Despite its output, the RA03022 maintains quiet operation with noise levels measured at 65 dB(A) during exercise and 67 dB(A) under load at 23 feet.
Fuel consumption is optimized for performance and longevity, using approximately 2.7 gallons per hour at full load and 1.3 gallons per hour at 50% load. The unit includes a 130-gallon UL 142-listed double-wall base fuel tank, offering up to 100 hours of runtime at 50% load, making it ideal for extended outages.
Installation and service are streamlined with removable doors, a control panel access area, and compatibility with a wide range of field-installable accessories, including cold weather kits, fuel vent extensions, and remote annunciators. The generator is UL 2200 listed, EPA emissions certified, and compliant with California and Massachusetts regulations.
